A Poop Story

Had to blog this milestone!

Yesterday Isla told me that she had to poop!

First she says "Mama!" and points to her butt. So I ask "did you poop?" She says "Yah." I check her and there's no poop.. So then I ask "Are you POOPING?" and she says "Yah!"

Two minutes later I smell her... She pooped!

I'm such a proud mommy. Looks like we're getting closer to potty training time! OHHH BOY!

Friday Bonfires

I'm loving our new tradition of "Friday Bonfires" with the neighbors... K, we're only on week 2, but so far so good!

I bring the chocolate and graham crackers and the Johnson's bring the marshmallows! Sarah cuddles with the dogs and Tony tends to the fire. Jen and I talk. haha...

Some day soon Rich will get to join us  -  whenever he takes a break from working! :-)

Vinegar and Vomit

I was ready for a glass of wine after this evening...

Made rice balls for dinner tonight. Isla was so kind to "help" me make dinner (I use the term "help" very loosely). Took me twice as long, but we got it done! That was just the start...

She did to eat most of her rice balls and I was happy about that. However, after dinner she got this huge spurt of energy! She was being all silly, running around crazy, laughing, dancing, etc...

Mix FULL BELLY with ENERGY and what do you get?? Projectile Vomit.

We had our first major puking episode.

Luckily I had my handy-dandy Household Tips: Vinegar book on hand and whipped up a nice concoction to remove all of the yuck out of the carpet. The nice green rug, however, went straight to the washing machine.

The solution:

2 Bowls or Buckets
1 Cup Vinegar
2 Cups Water
1 Sponge

Mix the vinegar and water into one of the bowls. Soak the sponge in the solution and press onto the carpet. Be generous when adding the solution to the carpet. Rub lightly and soak up the excess solution and water with the sponge. Squeeze the excess into the second bowl. Continue this pattern until all of the vomit is out of the carpet.

Pat with towel and let air dry.

That should do the trick!

Peroxide - Blood Stain Remover?

Tis true! My Gramma once showed me that peroxide will get blood out of virtually anything. And it WORKS.

Pour peroxide generously DIRECTLY on the FRESHLY blood stained surface (carpet, clothes, etc... even "period" blood) and dab it up with a paper towel or any absorbent cloth you don't mind getting dirty. Continue until most of the blood is gone. Then rinse and dab with water. Again, generously.

Somehow the peroxide and the blood reacts and does this interesting bubbling thing... fun to watch it work!

Mastering the Hard-Boiled Egg

I finally did it! I've mastered the hard-boiled egg. Rich and I have the long-standing obsession with getting this perfect. I gave up until now!

The key to perfectly peel-able eggs is:

SALT

  • Eggs
  • Deep Pot
  • Cold Water
  • 1/4-1/2 Cup Salt
  • large bowl of ice water
Place eggs in the deep pot and fill to about 1 inch above the eggs with water. Add the salt - you may need less/more depending on how much water you have.

Place on stove on high UNCOVERED until a rapid boil. Turn off heat and cover. Cook for 11 minutes.

While the eggs are cooking, prepare your bowl of ice water. When eggs are done cooking, place the eggs in the icewater for a few minutes.

Remove from ice and peel!

February Lessons

Isla did great with her lessons this month! This is just a peek at some of the stuff we did.

Workin On Her Fitness

'Nuf said.

Some Fun Pics

First pic is Isla feeding her animals at breakfast.

Second pic is from the MCM when she painted her own face.

Third is when she made her own jelly sandwich.

All three were taken this week. She's herring so independent!
